I finished!!!

The online crop is over and I managed to do ALL of the challenges!  I am proud of myself to say the least.

Here are the last of the challenges that I have finished.
Kelly's "Do You Want to Build a Snowman  required that we use something that depicted the "making" of something.  For this one I used a  very old photo of my middle grandson making a snowman.

Next up was Linda's Snowman Colour Challenge. For this we were given a colour palate that we had to choose three colours from for our project.  I chose the colours Orange, Red, and Grey.  Once again using an old photo of Isaac.

That's it, and with that my friend I have completed more layouts than I did for the most of 2018.

Oh my Oh me!!

Wow, I have been so busy this weekend.  I have been working an online crop at Scrap Paper Scissors.  Yes, that's correct, the first one I have worked in years and I am having a lot of fun too.  I have scrapped a lot of layouts, more than I have completed in months and months.  The DT there have come up with amazing games and challenges.  I like these gals, they are really good.  They know how to get your "juices" flowing. :)

Okay, where to start?  I guess I will start with the one hour sketch challenge that started of the crop.  We were given a sketch to follow and had one hour to scrap it.

This was the sketch we were given:

This is my answer to that challenge.  Oliver was helping me scrap, he was manning the cutting board. :)

The next challenge I took on was Stephanie's Deconstructed challenge; Well, as snowmen melt, they often become deconstructed and their pieces are left lying around.  For this challenge, I want to see colors of a snowman on your project but not touching each other.  I want to see brown< (for his stick arms) and black; (for his scarf) but I don't want to see them near each other.  This was my answer to that Challenge.  This is my new baby, Millie, she loves getting her belly rubbed and I love the way she holds her front legs while it is happening.

Up next came Linda's Winter Wonderland. This one required a green base, 3 circles, brown embellies, a pair, something masculine and a series of rectangles.  At first I thought this was going to be hard but when I started working on it I found it to be fairly easy, the only hard thing was to find something masculine which I found to be a bit sexist has pretty much everything works for both sexes in this world today.
My reply to this challenge was using photos from husband's 60th birthday celebration.

Up next was Kelly's Snowman Acrostic challenge which was really a great challenge because it worked right into a layout that I had put aside that I wanted to get done. I had already had everything picked out for it but I didn't expect that it would work into the challenges from the crop.
The challenge was to use Sparkle, Navy, Oval, White, Metal, Alphas, and something new.
The sparkle was the metallic paper and the gemstone brads, the metal was the bracelet.. the new was the lace.

Next I did Stephanie's snowman sketch Challenge. This one was pretty quick as I love working with sketches. This is my 5 year old Oliver getting his cuddles and snuggles.

We can't have a crop without some cards thrown in and we have had a couple of card challenges also but I have only done one so far. This one required the use of three circles.  I don't add greetings to my cards until I use them.

Next on the agenda was Victoria's Frosty the Snowman challenge, which required taking inspiration from the image posted.  This was my answer to that challenge.

Okay that is all for now.  There are more challenges to be done.  If I don't get any more done I will be more than pleased with what I have accomplished but I do expect to get some more done just the same. :)
Thank  you very much for visiting my blog.  Comments are more than welcome, I would love to know you were here and what you think. :)

Wednesday 9 January 2019

I have to start of by saying that I am mighty pleased with myself.  I have done another two layouts. This is something I would not have believed if you had told me I would accomplish this by this week.

Anyway I did two more challenges for Scrap, Paper, Scissors.  The first one I did was a big and little challenge.  This challenge is to feature at least 3 sets of “big and little” also some obvious white space.

For my challenge I used Big and Little food dishes, big and little paw prints, big and little collars, big and little alphas and the photo has a big and little cat.

The next challenge was all about caring and sharing.  I used a photo of Oliver sharing my desk with me while he was trying to tell me how much he cared about how long I was spending on the computer. :)

That is all I have to share with  you today. Thanks for stopping by.

A couple of Challenges

So I decided to pop over to the Scrap, Paper, Scissors board and found they have a January crop on the go there, it's called, "Time to Stir the Pot."  Now if that isn't quite the name for a crop!

Anyway I found a couple of challenges that stirred something inside of me and got my scrappy juices flowing.

The first one that I thought I would try was the sketch challenge (I LOVE LOVE LOVE sketchs).
For this challenge I used a photo that I shot of my two little darlings having a bit of a nap together. Well, okay to be honest, only one was napping the other was bugging him.

I used some burlap and some copper mesh for the elements on this one, I also used a little metal token that came on a bar of soap that I thought was kinda cute.

The next challenge that I chose to do was Stephanie's Noodle challenge.  This one required the use of strips of paper to represent the noodles and circles to represent the bowls. Now my darling daughter is not going to love me for this one.  One day when she was having a particulary rough day at work, she shot me this photo of herself telling me that she was "not in the mood".   I was joking with her at the time.  I don't think she meant me to scrap it.  LOL

Now I am pretty darn proud of my daughter.  She got her first computer when she was nine years old after telling a computer salesman that he was going to have a syntax error, which he promptly told her he wasn't because he knew what he was doing... he got a syntax error.  She started writing programs on that computer the first day she had it... she had no computer training at all.  There's not much she don't know or can't figure out about computer's and how they run.  She has never had to look for a job in her life, it is always head-hunter's looking for her.  She don't get it from me.... or her father... it must come from way back in the family tree somewhere LOL

My Dutchess

I am and always have been a cat lover.  I would have a houseful of cats if I could afford it.  We have had two cats now for about three years.  Oliver is my 5 year old, male, ginger tabby and a failed foster.  I fostered him for about 5 minutes before I decided that we had to keep him.  He was just too precious to let him go to someone else.  Precious is my 6 year old, female, grey tabby.  I rescued her from the streets.  Every time I went to visit my friend, she would come running down the street for me to pick her up and give her some loving.  Then one day in the freezing cold of November she came running and she was so cold, I wrapped her inside my coat for to warm her up.  I just couldn't stand to put her back down and let her get cold again so I just popped her in my car and brought her home with me.   She is very anti-social and stays far away from us all and won't let Oliver near her. That's okay with me, at least for the past 3 years she has been warm, has been well fed and well loved.

Now, last month I got Millie.  She was a 4 month old ginger and white beautiful little thing that I just had to have.  I hadn't planned on getting another cat but went into the pet store to get some fish food.  She was in the cage and I held her for a while to give her a bit of loving and she refused to go back into the cage.  She just wrapped her front legs around my neck, purred and refused to let go.  That broke me. LOL  She came home with me.  I have not been sorry.  I call her my little dutchess.  She is into everything.  She is also very vocal when she wants something, especially when she wants me out of bed.  Anyway, when I saw this sketch challenge from The Studio Challenges, I just had to scrap this photo of Millie, she was eyeing my fish.

Saturday 5 January 2019

A new year, a new blog, new beginnings.

Okay, so the past year was just a blur.  So many things happening and so many things going wrong.  This year  I have decided to just start over completely.

I am going to run with the motto and that if it can go wrong, it can also go right.  So far this year I am not on any design teams and I am not sure that I am going to apply for any.  I am going to allow myself the pleasure of just doing what comes naturally to me without having any stress of having to push to get any work done other than what I feel like doing.

I will no doubt be getting involved with several scrapbooking sites, doing challenges etc, etc.  But will only be doing challenges that appeal to me.  I will not be doing challenges because they are the latest craze to hit the scrapbooking scene, or the latest techniques and therefore I should try them.  I will be working only on the basis that "oh, I like the looks of that, I think I will try it" and only for that reason.

I will certainly be scaling back on the major 3D scrapping that I was doing.  I have found that they do not fit well in the albums and they end up not looking so great once they are put in their protective sleeves.  I have come to the conclusion that simple but elegant is the much better way to go.

Now I have to stop here and tell you that I received my heart's delight for Christmas.  There is one thing that I love very very much and that is cats, and now that I am retired and have so much time to spend with them if I could afford them I would just have my house full of them.  Of course they are costly to own and maintain so I really can't afford to own many of them but I did get a new kitten for Christmas.  I have a four month old female who is just so delightful and just turns me to jelly everytime I see her.  Now I already own a 5 year old male ginger tabby who is an adopted rescue cat and means the world to me.  He was what is called a failed foster.  I had him as a foster for a whole ten minutes before I decided I couldn't let him go and had to adopt him.  I also have a 4 year old female grey tabby that was rescued from the streets, who loves to play the part of a jerk.... she will not allow the other cats to come near her without the growl, hiss and smack.  I thought I loved both of those cats as much as you could possibly love a cat. Well along comes Millie for Christmas and zooooooooom there went my heart, she is the most beautiful ginger and white four month old medium length fur, with a tail like a squirrel, that I have ever set my eyes on. She is also a rescue cat.  I would never get a cat from a breeder when there are so many that need to be rescued.

I will share some photos of my babies with you... of course I am a fur baby mommy.. you know I have to share some photos. LOL

This is Oliver, He is Momma's Big Boy and he loves to cuddle.

This is Precious, she just wants to be left alone.

This is Millie, she is my Dutchess.

Millie as a bit of a problem... her tail.  It is longer than she is and it is soooooo bushy.  She tries to hide but her tail gives her away every time. :)

So as you can see, my life is all centered around my scrapbooking and my cats. :)

I would appreciate any and all comments.  They will help me to know what to post and what not to post :)
Thanks Jackie.+
